In today's society, most people of my generation get their information from social platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat. All of these platforms are good ways to stay informed about what is going on around you. But the negative part about that is the possibility of misinformation or disinformation that comes along with reading something on social media platforms. It is of at most importance to have reliable sources you can trust. One of those sources I am going to talk about today, which is the radio. 

What is a listening post? A listening post is something used to gather and receive information about what is trending and changing around us. In our society, staying informed is essential because what around us is constantly changing. A radio station is a great example of a listening post, because you can tune in everyday to hear what is going on in your community. The station I chose to spotlight was KZHE.

KZHE also known as 100.5 FM is located in Stamps, Arkansas, but reaches other nearby towns including the Southern Arkansas University campus. KZHE is a community-based radio station, that plays country, gospel, and bluegrass music while also keeping their audience updated with local news, weather, and upcoming events. It's a great option for people who want to stay connected without relying on social media. What helped me make my decision on what radio station was KZHE being so connected to the community. The station often features small businesses, to help Magnolia's economy, and to advertise for smaller businesses trying to get on their feet. 

Radio Stations like KZHE help the Magnolia community stay connected, keep newsworthy information updated, and keeps that down home feeling of listening to the radio alive. In a time when so much information, that spreads so quickly around the world could not be reliable or true, radio stations like KZHE stand out as a trusted source for real news and a listening post.
